Canon MP530 review part 1
On July 2nd I purchased a Canon MP530 multifunction machine. I was looking for a SOHO product with an automatic document feeder, duplexing(a feature of my old office inkjet that saved me reams of paper on articles pointlessly printed out off the Internet,) decent photo capabilities, and network connectivity. It is USB-only, but it looked to be a very good value and unlike most of the comparable machines at Staples at the time, is a brand-new product so it's got the latest technology like glowing cartridges.
Initial testing revealed that photos printed with the included sample high-quality paper looked great.
As of today I can add that it will indeed receive faxes, which look...well like faxes. The fax machine set communications back 10 years, you know. It's supposed to support colour faxing, something I've only seen on cop shows, I'm extremely curious how well that works, if you have a colour fax at your disposal maybe you could send me something.
I'm also doing a little test to compare the longevity of the ink to my old HP with a particular type of HP paper I use for making packaging, (inkjets can be very fussy, if I use this paper in my Epson R200 the ink practically flakes off) expect results...oh, sometime in 2009.

I am thinking about purchasing this printer when it becomes available in the US. When will you be posting the next installment of your review? Briefly, would you recommend this printer? Also, if you know, how does the cost of ink compare with other printers? Thanks much.
Well, the "part 1" part was a bit tongue-in-cheek.... It should be available in the US somewhere now if I was able to get mine in Ottawa. I haven't been using it real heavily yet, but so far I would recommend it. Canon's are suppoed to be pretty economical on ink.
